Caroline is an award winning London based violinist who enjoys a varied career playing in the leading orchestras of the UK.  Alongside performing, Caroline also has a passion for sharing her love of music with children through class based projects, 1-1 teaching and leading compositional musical partnerships between schools within the UK and internationally.

At aged 21 and prior to finishing her undergraduate degree, she began playing with the top London orchestras in their London season concerts and global tours.   Her session work has included 'The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey' and 'Iron Man 3' at Abbey Road studios.

Caroline moved to London aged 17 from NE Scotland to study with Maurice Hasson and So-Ock Kim at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) where she was the recipient of numerous scholarships and prizes including the Sir Curtis Price award, EMI Sound Foundation award, Howard Davis scholarship, Bowerman Charitable Trust scholarship and the Clumber studio scholarship.  She graduated with distinction in 2014 as a Master of Arts scholar, receiving the honorary dip. RAM and has since gone on to play, record and tour extensively with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra as well as play on broadcasts for BBC Radio 3, Radio 2, Radio 1 live lounge and 'Later with Jools Holland'.

 

Caroline has worked with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Colin Davis, Kurt Mazur, Zubin Mehta, Semyon Bychkov, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Vladimir Jurowski.  As a chamber musician she has performed in venus such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall and St James Palace.  As a soloist she has performed the Bruch violin concerto on tour throughout Scotland in venues such as Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the Usher Hall in Edinburgh with the All Souls Orchestra as well as directing Brandenburg concerto no. 3 at Perth Concert Hall with other Dewar Arts Award winners.  Caroline has also performed to and received tuition from Maxim Vengerov, Daniel Hope, Tasmin Little and former leader of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Thomas Brandis, in public masterclasses.

Caroline was a Junior Fellow of the RAM in the Open Academy department and was mentored by Julian West. Through this she became experienced in creating and leading workshops in schools across London, and was also involved with providing workshops for those with dementia through 'Raise Your Voice' (Glyndebourne Education Dept) and for young people through the charity Music in Prisons.  Since then Caroline has been involved in numerous educational workshops including writing and leading the music/RE workshops for Prom Praise for Schools 2019 including the training of musicians from the All Souls Orchestra.  In 2021 Caroline won full funding from the British Council to write and co-lead (with Trang Trinh) a cross cultural and musical partnership between British and Vietnamese schools based on Elgar's 'Chason de Matin'.   

Caroline teaches at an award winning preparatory school in London and has a limited private teaching studio.
